Royal Colwood Amateur
History
The Men's Amateur was created as part of a weeklong celebration recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Colwood Golf Club. Entries were posted around the city of Victoria, at Clubs on Vancouver Island and sent to Clubs in the Vancouver area.
The first order of business was to create an invitational entry structure. This was to give the contestants who have supported the event the first opportunity to renew their spot. Entry to the Men's Amateur is gained by invitation. The previous years field is given the first opportunity to return and then male Members of Royal Colwood have the opportunity to enter. Over the years the event has evolved with the concept of promoting the club and protecting the image and hopefully adding to the already worldly reputation of Royal Colwood.
